Band is offered to all 6th-8th graders at TCS and is a wonderful and unique opportunity for your child to try their hand at learning an instrument. We break down by grade, and form two ensembles.
Varsity Band
All graduating 7th grade band members are eligible to participate in Varsity Band. This group is a performing ensemble that can be seen at carnivals, competitions, and festivals as we develop intermediate band skills and prepare them for individual recognition through honor band participation. We also focus on developing ensemble skills as many students have never played in a big group before. This ensemble provides the skills and support necessary for your child to be successful in a high school band setting. Many of our alumni have gone on to make all-state and have been awarded lucrative band and music scholarships.
7th Grade Band
These classes are broken down into like instruments and class size is small which accelerates their learning process. This is a year long class that forms into our 7th grade band that performs twice a year; Christmas and our spring concert. The instruction is centered around beginning students, so no prior musical experience is necessary. In class they learn to read written music along with the fundamentals of playing their instrument.
